First and foremost, this is the Internet. The Internet is full of uncited assertions of fact that turn out to be totally fabricated (see Wikipedia). Unlike many bloggers, I will do my absolute best to cite my sources, but please, if you are in school, do not use my website to help write your papers. Should you be forced to defend your work, I will not be available for show-and-tell.
Second, I am not a journalist. I do not work for any official member of the Fourth Estate. I am burdened only by my singular sense of truth, not any ethical obligation to be fair and balanced. I began this website at a time in my life where my mind was developed enough for my life’s experiences, individually and in the aggregate, to color and blur my perspective on world events. Be forewarned that I will deride professional journalists for using phrases like “some people say,” and then personally reflect on the day’s news with an obvious editorial tone. It doesn’t make me a hypocrite since I’m not a journalist, so shush.
Third, please do not send me hate mail accusing me of being biased and complaining to others that I am unfair to one side or the other. Given the above concession that I am not, in fact, a journalist, I imagine you, the viewer, will not shout at me and base your entire arguments about my lack of integrity on any claim to the contrary. While I possess the capacity to write in a journalistic manner, and if ever I am approached to do so professionally I will enthusiastically and dutifully accept, I am not currently a journalist. On occasion, I will present point-counterpoint posts on hot-button issues. However, for now, it’s my website and I’ll cry if I want to!
Lastly, and most importantly, it is my official policy not to discuss any specific details of my professional life on this website. I will not divulge work-related information online…ever. Further, while I’m at work, you the viewer must bear the suffering of not receiving new updates to the site. I hope anyone reading this understands it will never be my intention to publish anything that runs counter to the mission of my employer, whomever that may be at a given time. I embrace the freedom of speech granted by the U.S. Constitution, but I also know where my bread is buttered, and I have no qualms admitting that. And since I have never taken and will never take employment with an organization upon whose mission I fundamentally disagree, I see there being no problem. Ya dig?
Know that I do greatly appreciate your undying yearning for more stream of consciousness rants. It means a lot. Keep watching!
